Sažetak
The production of goods and services in the most efficient manner has continued to be the only viable and reliable option for development, growth and survival of any economy. Government and development experts have fully recognised SMEs as the main engine of economic growth and a major factor in promoting private sector development. The development of small scale Enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria is therefore an essential element in the growth strategy. This paper explores the achievements of small and medium scale Enterprise sector in Nigeria and the role government, internal and external support institutions have played in promoting the sector.
