Sažetak
This study explores the factors that have motivated women in Mauritius to embrace the field of entrepreneurship. It surveys twenty women entrepreneurs from various sectors and age groups. The results of the study confirm to a large extent the results of other studies in different countries on this issue. The study shows the growing trend of women to join the labour force, in particular self-employment. Motivating factors cited are relief from boredom, a necessity for contributing to the family revenue, autonomy, challenge and a way to remain active. Factors that contribute to success include self-motivation, the desire to succeed, financial means, marketing skills, customer satisfaction and family support.
