In the last decades, Quality management has become a trend in global economy. Afterbeing first published in 1987, the international standards of ISO 9000 family were improved in 1994, while in 2000, they underwent their third revision. Besides, a number of other standards and guidelines ammending the stated standards, were published. In 1997, standard ISO 9000-3: Guidelines for applications of ISO 9001:1994 to the development, supply, installation and maintenance of computer software were published. In 2004, new version of this documentation was published under the denomination ISO 90003 – Software engineering – Guidelines for the application of ISO 90001:2000 to computer software. The article hereto provides a briefing of the basic elements which the stated standards are made of, and their connection with the ISO 9001:2000, as well as the connection with other international standards regulating the branch of the computer software.
