Sažetak

This paper examines willingness to communicate and self-perceived communication competence of Italian-Croatian bilingual and Croatian monolingual students in two languages, Croatian and English. The study was conducted on the sample of 77 monolingual and 38 bilingual students at the University of Pula. The examination of the reported data has shown several facts. Firstly, bilingual students obtain higher scores in communication competence and willingness to communicate in both languages in comparison to the monolingual students. Secondly, it has also shown that it is easier for both groups of students to talk in Croatian language than in English as a foreign language.
