The paper examines the impact of regulation on market competition, market performance and conduct in the business sector. It analyses the importance of strict business regulation for performing economy. It argues that the great challenge of contemporary globalization is in ensuring economic liberalization an increase transnational investment together with the structuring of practices and institutions of business performance. The paper also discusses the legal tendencies in regulating financial sector in EU which is benchmark for Croatian legislation. This paper has a limited scope- to lay down and connect some basic notions, trends and open questions in regulation and views about financial market regulations and supervision in Europe.
