Sažetak

Following the changes of the form of living in the industrial culture (work, free time, traveling, mass tourism) and the manifestation of a new life style of the free time culture of the contemporary man (self activities, spontaneity, social contact, relaxation, amusement) it is necessary that receptive countries improve their quality and quantity of tourist offer. It means that the wishes and motives of the contemporary tourist are more and more complex. For that purpose it is necessary that the tourist offer can promptly answer on that requests. The goal of this paper is to point out at the possibility of creating a new tourist product in the Istrian region, creating a new aspect of selective form of tourism - astrotourism. For that purpose a research was conducted among local people in municipality Visnjan for the purpose of collecting information about their opinion of developing astrotourism in their area of living and to achieve awakening of collective awareness about this way of tourist experience. Research results have shown that there was no big difference between the examinees answers grouped by gender or age, so the answers were examined by the examinees qualifications. The answers shown that people with higher qualification are more interested to include their selves in the project and that they are more informed about the observatory work.
