The paper explores the strategic accounting system structure, its goals and the need and advantages of its development in Croatian enterprises. Information is a key resource of management and other decision makers what particularly stands for strategic accounting information. Because of its completeness and closeness to management, it is expected to be widely used in future, despite of implementation difficulties that would probably arise. Its application is of vital importance for transitional country like Croatia that needs successful strategic as well as operational management to fight for survival and fast growth at micro and macroeconomic level.
